Baseball Recap: San Fernando's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

San Fernando came into Saturday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Banning Pilots by a score of 5-1 on Saturday. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 victory the Pilots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Alex Torres spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has become a key player for San Fernando: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Diego Romero-Salazar was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

The win got San Fernando back to even at 8-8. As for Banning, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.

Coming up, San Fernando will take on Legacy in a tournament on Thursday. As for Banning, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Poly on the 15th.
