Baseball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Clark on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 5-4. The Mavericks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Madison has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. Clark pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will take on Johnson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clark, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brandeis at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Brandeis will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Clark surely won't give up without a fight.
