Softball Recap: North Decatur Has No Trouble Against Waldron

North Decatur got themselves on the board against Waldron on Tuesday, but Waldron never followed suit. They blew past the Mohawks 12-0. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Brooklyn White made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, North Decatur let Kendall Hostkoetter and Madison Rohls run wild. Hostkoetter went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Rohls went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most RBI Hostkoetter has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Crawford, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

North Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

North Decatur's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Waldron, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, North Decatur will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Knightstown at 5:30 p.m. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.47 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of. Waldron will be paying especially close attention to North Decatur's match: after North Decatur faces off against Knightstown, they'll take on Waldron again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
