Basketball Game Preview: Chesterfield Golden Rams vs. North Central Knights

The Chesterfield Golden Rams are taking a road trip to take on the North Central Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Chesterfield came up short against Cheraw and fell 56-48.

Despite the defeat, Chesterfield saw an underclassman step up: freshman Reagan Rivers almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Le'Asia Brown, who posted six points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Chesterfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 37 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, North Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 25th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 102-13 defeat at the hands of Andrew Jackson. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-5.

North Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Chesterfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Everything came up roses for Chesterfield against North Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 43-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chesterfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
