Football Game Preview: Hazleton Area Cougars vs. Dallas Mountaineers

The Hazleton Area Cougars will take on the Dallas Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hazleton Area is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

On Friday, Hazleton Area had to suffer through a 49-13 loss at the hands of Pittston. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 415th, while the Patriots are ranked 136th).

Meanwhile, while Dallas put up some points on Friday, the same can't be said for Crestwood. The Mountaineers walked away with a 7-0 victory over the Comets. The win continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won five in a row.

Hazleton Area's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Dallas, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Hazleton Area was dealt a bruising 48-12 defeat at the hands of Dallas when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Cougars were down 42-6.
