The Gibsonburg Golden Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Van Buren Black Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Gibsonburg's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Van Buren has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Last Monday, Gibsonburg beat Woodmore 53-41. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Gibsonburg found their leader in sophomore Elly Evarts, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 12 boards. Evarts' evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. Emma Jividen was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Van Buren had to suffer through a 64-24 loss at the hands of Miller City. While losing is never fun, the Black Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 589th, while the Wildcats are ranked 181st).

Van Buren's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Gibsonburg, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
