Softball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Knights vs. Fisher Bunnies

The Blue Ridge Knights will take on the Fisher Bunnies at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Blue Ridge will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Blue Ridge proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 13) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Arcola 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since April 10, 2024.

Ellie Schlieper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Karlee Fenton was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Addison Roos was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Blue Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Fisher wound up with the same score they had in their last game (2-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Fisher's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11-1. As for Blue Ridge, their record now sits at 11-9.

Blue Ridge suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Fisher when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
