Caleb Bright was his usual excellent self, rushing for 183 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries, while also picking up 31 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 183 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Fletcher Grubbs, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Fort Worth THESA was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 235 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 206 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
Another reason for the win was Fort Worth THESA's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Tyler HEAT's QB won't forget Garrett Jones anytime soon given he sacked him 3.5 times. Uriah Quinney got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Westlake Academy against Johnson County Sports Association on Thursday as the team secured a 58-8 victory. The Blacksmiths' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Westlake Academy, adding 20 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Angel Manon, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Fort Worth THESA's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Westlake Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
