Softball Recap: Napoleon Finds Home Field Redemption Against Wauseon

There's no place like home for Napoleon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Wauseon Indians by a score of 11-6 on Thursday. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Arianna Kiessling (Jr) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Napoleon let Addy Thompson Jr) and Cali Bost run wild. Thompson Jr) went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Bost went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Emma Grisier (Jr) was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Napoleon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Napoleon's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Wauseon, they dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Napoleon will venture away from home to challenge Ross at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wauseon, they will welcome St. Ursula Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Arrows have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
