Volleyball Recap: Xavier Falls Short Against Ranked Cheshire

Xavier faced Cheshire in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Falcons fell just short of the Rams by a score of 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost seven in a row.

Xavier wouldn't go down easily and took Cheshire into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 26-28, 25-16, 25-23, 23-25, 15-9.

When it comes to explaining why Xavier lost, don't look at Ethan Tran. Despite the final result, he had 12 digs.

Xavier's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Cheshire, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Xavier does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cheshire, they are taking a road trip to challenge Shelton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gaels will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
