League recap: Cardinal races to league-leading run for Millbrook

Millbrook's Henry Cardinal rumbled for the longest rushing play in Section 9 C-II this season in his game against Tri-Valley last week. Cardinal scampered for 78 yards on the play and finished with 166 on the day as his team topped the Bears.

Sullivan West was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in the league. The Bulldogs beat Eldred 40-6 earlier in the week.

Sullivan West's dynamic duo of Richard Shevak and Jared Meola proved tough for the Yellowjackets to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Shevak threw for 60 yards and Meola had 50 yards receiving.

Ron Bauer's team's dynamic duo of Shevak and Meola proved to be unstoppable against Eldred, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Cardinal was the best running back in the league this week. Andre Sousa also contributed to the rushing game with 158 yards on the ground.

Jacob Higgins made the biggest impact on defense this week as Millbrook defeated Tri-Valley. The 5-foot-11 junior.

Meola was the best wideout in Section 9 C-II this week as the Bulldogs beat the Yellowjackets.

Shevak put up the best numbers in passing as Sullivan West beat Eldred.

Cardinal was a passing and rushing force as Sean Keenan's team defeated John Rusin's team.

Liberty's Quinn Jackson and Patrick Fitzpatrick have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jackson has thrown for 279 yards this season, while Fitzpatrick, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has 6 catches for 132 yards. Cardinal from the Blazers leads the league in rushing with 460 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Millbrook takes on second place Sullivan West. Millbrook bested the Bears last week, while the Bulldogs beat the Yellowjackets.

Sullivan West took down Eldred 40-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Shevak ran for 85 yards in the win.
