Softball Recap: Washington Huskies vs. Irvington Vikings

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Washington brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They put the hurt on the Irvington Vikings with a sharp 12-1 victory on Thursday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Washington's hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Olivia Machuca was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Machuca was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with an RBI.

In other batting news, Ariel Guerra was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cassandra Price, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with a double and an RBI.

As for Irvington, they will head out on the road to take on Newark Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newark Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
