Softball Recap: Scranton's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Scranton waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Magazine Rattlers a 3-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 on April 1st.

DeLaney Mainer (2026) made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Morgan Lensing (2027) was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Natalie Miller (2025) was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Scranton's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Magazine, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Coincidentally, Scranton and Magazine will both be playing Mulberry the next time they take the field. The Rattlers will head out to face the Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Rockets will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
