Trabuco Hills posted their closest victory since April 24, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the El Modena Vanguards. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-1 back in March.

Daniel Van De Kreeke made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Van De Kreeke wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Hill, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another was Sam Crouse, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Trabuco Hills' victory bumped their record up to 13-4-1. As for El Modena, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-12.

Coming up, Trabuco Hills will play host again on Saturday to welcome Foothill Tech, where first pitch is scheduled at 12:00 p.m. The Dragons will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for El Modena, they will challenge JW North at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Huskies are coming into the matchup with five straight defeats on the road, meaning the Vanguards will have to defend against a team out to prove they can win away from home.
