Volleyball Recap: Castle Park Trojans vs. San Ysidro Cougars
Castle Park suffered their biggest defeat since May 3, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against the San Ysidro Cougars, falling 3-0. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Cougars when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: San Ysidro scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.
San Ysidro's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sebastian Castro, who had ten digs and six kills. Castro is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 23 or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Rocha, who had eight digs and three aces.
This is the second loss in a row for Castle Park and nudges their season record down to 3-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-10 Southwest SD (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61% over those games). As for San Ysidro, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-9.
