Softball Game Preview: Valley Christian Lions vs. Foresthill Wildfires

For the second straight game, Valley Christian will face off against Foresthill. The Lions will square off against the Wildfires at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Christian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Valley Christian's last matchup with Foresthill could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Lions lost 21-11 to the Wildfires. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Wildfires recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

For Foresthill's part, the team relied heavily on Rose Mellady, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Mellady a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtyn Keon, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Foresthill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .689. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in five consecutive games.

Foresthill is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.8 runs over those games. As for Valley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
