Recap: Edmond Santa Fe Wolves vs. Owasso Rams
On Friday, The Edmond Santa Fe Wolves faced the Owasso Rams in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Edmond Santa Fe took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Owasso. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Edmond Santa Fe in their matchups with Owasso: they've now lost four in a row.
Edmond Santa Fe's loss came despite strong showings from Demarius Robinson and Daniel Newton. Robinson rushed for 290 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, while Newton rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Robinson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bergin Kysar, who picked up 131 receiving yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Knox Dyson, who threw for 509 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes. Deuce Chalk did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 224 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Edmond Santa Fe's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Owasso, their win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Edmond Santa Fe will take on Yukon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Yukon has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since September 8. As for Owasso, they will head out on the road to face off against Norman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Norman will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Owasso is ranked sixth).
