Jonah Gonzalez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Central York is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-11 otherwise.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Spring Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Northeastern on Thursday as they made off with an 8-2 win.
Peityn Wonder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jake Desort, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Jacob Dull was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Spring Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Spring Grove pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Central York, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
