Volleyball Recap: Clearfield Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bishop Guilfoyle on Tuesday, Clearfield came back down to earth. The Bison fell just short of the Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. If the Bison were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Mountaineers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Clearfield took Philipsburg-Osceola into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-17, 24-26, 22-25, 15-11.

Emily Gustkey was a one-woman wrecking crew For Philipsburg-Osceola. as she had 21 digs and two assists. Gustkey is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Natalee Lesko also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

With the loss, Clearfield broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 7-4. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7-1.

Coming up, Clearfield will welcome Hollidaysburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, they will head out to take on Westmont Hilltop at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
