Softball Preview: Johnson Jaguars vs. LEE Volunteers
The Johnson Jaguars will face off against the LEE Volunteers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Johnson is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
Last Wednesday, everything went Johnson's way against Madison as Johnson made off with a 15-3 win. Considering the Jaguars have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, LEE had to endure a 13-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 26-8 margin over SA Roosevelt on Monday. The Volunteers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
LEE got a massive performance out of Audrey Villarreal, who scored four runs and stole Nine bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Villarreal a new career-high in runs. Liliana Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, six RBI, and two runs.
LEE always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .762. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .520 that SA Roosevelt posted.
Johnson's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for LEE, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.
