League recap: Allen tops Boyd to extend winning streak

5A Region II District 10 recap October 29, 2013

Allen added to the longest winning streak in 5A Region II District 10 this week by beating Boyd, 49-26. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Eagles.

Brooks Panhans was a beast in the backfield as Plano defeated Plano East.

Panhans was a passing and rushing force as the Wildcats beat the Panthers. He completed 3 passes for 39 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 222 yards. Panhans' favorite target this week was Colby Cantu, who caught 2 passes for 34 yards.

Curtis Ladd put up the best numbers in passing as the Broncos lost to Allen. He finished with 10 completions for 176 yards and 1 touchdown. Ladd's favorite target this week was Mahlieke Boseman, who caught 2 passes for 107 yards.

On the heels of Ladd and Dedrick Scrivens, Boyd has had great success on offense. Ladd leads the league in passing with 1,495 yards, while Scrivens has rushed for 1,112 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is McKinney's Tv Williams, with 429 yards on 27 catches.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Plano West takes on Plano. At the moment, the Wolves are in third, while Jaydon Mccullough's team is in second.

The Wildcats made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 232 from 382. The improvement was the result of a 42-14 victory over Plano East last week.
