If Jacobs beats Crystal Lake Central with 35 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Golden Eagles walked away with a 35-27 victory over Huntley on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jacobs had a senior duo take command as Caden DuMelle rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns and Michael Cannady rushed for 171 yards and one TD on only 15 carries. Those 171 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Cannady.

Jacobs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 336 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huntley only rushed for 168.

Meanwhile, Crystal Lake Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 40-6 loss at the hands of Cary-Grove. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-0.

Crystal Lake Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Jacobs, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything went Jacobs' way against Crystal Lake Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Jacobs made off with a 27-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
