Softball Recap: Maryvale Comes Up Short

Maryvale extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-14. They came up short against the Westwood Warriors, falling 18-0. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 15-5 to the Warriors when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Maryvale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth Zubia, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

As for Westwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-13. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Westwood's side, Emily Stacey was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Stacey has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Analisa Garcia, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Looking ahead, Maryvale will challenge Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Westwood, they will take on Red Mountain at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mountain Lions have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season.
