Baseball Recap: Libertyville Snags Tenth Victory in Last 11 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Libertyville walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Maine South Hawks on Monday as they made off with a 13-4 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Josh Holst was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Holst was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Quinn Schambow was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carson Holmes, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Libertyville is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 34-4 record this season. As for Maine South, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 23-17 record.

As of now, neither Libertyville nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
