Softball Recap: Cactus Shadows' Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cactus Shadows entered their tilt with Saguaro on Wednesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Sabercats with a sharp 11-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-10 on Monday.

Molly Brown spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cactus Shadows got a massive performance out of Gianna Lucchesi, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Lucchesi a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexi Honea, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Cactus Shadows always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive contests.

Cactus Shadows' record is now 13-7. As for Saguaro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Looking ahead, Cactus Shadows will take on Coronado at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Dons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.5 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Saguaro, they will square off against Arcadia at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
