Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Church Point). Everything went their way against the Northwest Raiders on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-1 win. The Bears not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1, 2024.
Reese Kirkpatrick made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Bertinot, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Markis Gable also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Church Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Church Point's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-11-1. As for Northwest, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Church Point has already played their next game, a 19-0 win against Lake Charles College Prep on the 1st. As for Northwest, they will venture away from home to face off against Carencro at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
