Baseball Recap: Dominguez Takes a Loss

Dominguez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Firebaugh Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dons of the 20-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Oscar Villa was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Dominguez is 3-1 when Villa allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 2-3-1 otherwise. Villa was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Villa wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Flores, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Daveon Brim also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Dominguez's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dominguez will welcome Mayfair at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Firebaugh, they will challenge Norwalk at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
