Avila made her presence known in United Christian Academy's 15-7 victory
United Christian Academy was led to victory by Lariah Avila, who turned in her biggest game of the season on Thursday. Avila made a splash, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. It looks like she has California Lutheran's number considering she had a big game the last time she faced them, too. Avila has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances.
Avila and United Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against California School for the Deaf-Riverside at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. United Christian Academy is 9-0 against California School for the Deaf-Riverside going back to April of 2017, a lead they'll look to extend.
