Basketball Recap: Sunset Comes Up Short

Sunset and Killian squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Sunset had to settle for second. They took a 69-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Killian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Donovan Samuels led the charge by going 9-for-16 to rack up 22 points and eight rebounds. Samuels has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Bethel, who shot 53% from the field en route to 19 points.

Sunset's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Killian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Sunset nor Killian have any future games scheduled.
