Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Bishop Moore's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Bishop Moore unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to the Lake Brantley Patriots. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Patriots when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bishop Moore started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-19, 25-9, 25-22.

Bishop Moore's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Marc Francis Callejas, who had 15 digs and one assist, and Cole Ferris, who had six digs. Callejas has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times he's played. Will McCoy also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Bishop Moore's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Lake Brantley, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

Bishop Moore and Lake Brantley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Hornets will challenge Apopka at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (12 vs. 96). Meanwhile, Lake Brantley (ranked 11th) will meet Olympia (ranked 109th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
