Basketball Recap: Nevaeh Staples Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Randleman

Uwharrie Charter Academy hadn't done well against Randleman recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles walked away with a 48-41 victory over the Randleman Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Uwharrie Charter Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nevaeh Staples, who made all 8 shots she took for 16 points and eight rebounds. Staples is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games she's played. Abbie Gudino also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Uwharrie Charter Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Randleman only pulled down four offensive boards.

When it comes to explaining why Randleman lost, don't look at Gracie Beane. Despite the final result, she posted ten points along with five boards and five blocks. Addyson Dees was another key player, putting up seven points.

Uwharrie Charter Academy's record now sits at 18-5. As for Randleman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

Uwharrie Charter Academy has already played their next matchup, a 49-23 win against Eastern Randolph on the 7th. As for Randleman, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-37 loss against Providence Grove on the 7th.
