Baseball Recap: Atchison County Victorious

Atchison County posted their closest win since April 22, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the McLouth Bulldogs 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

Adrian Diaz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rance Vesser, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Atchison County: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise.

Atchison County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McLouth only posted a batting average of .240.
