Football Recap: Bethesda Academy Blazers vs. Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles
Bethesda Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Everything went their way against the Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles as they made off with a 53-28 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Blazers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 281st in Georgia, while the Eagles are ranked 122nd in South Carolina).

Bethesda Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Cheever, who rushed for 234 yards and one TD while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 65 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 234 rushing yards gave Cheever a new career-high. Ralo Wesley also helped out with an impressive 104 receiving yards.
Bethesda Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Jeffrey Armstrong was especially locked on to Hilton Head Christian Academy's QB and sacked him twice. Isaiah Jones was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.
Hilton Head Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-2.
Coincidentally, Bethesda Academy and Hilton Head Christian Academy will both be playing John Paul II the next time they take the field. The Blazers will head out to face the Golden Warrriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Eagles will host them at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th.
