Preview: Harding University Rams vs. West Mecklenburg Hawks
Harding University has enjoyed a seven-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Harding University comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Harding University suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were beaten by Hough 62-16. While losing is never fun, Harding University can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while Hough is ranked 158th).
Meanwhile, West Mecklenburg's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 53-24 defeat at the hands of Berry. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss West Mecklenburg has suffered against Berry since February 12, 2018.
Harding University bumped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. As for West Mecklenburg, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Harding University against West Mecklenburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 68-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Harding University since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
