Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 30-30 at halftime, Central was not quite Southwest's equal in the second half on Saturday. They lost to the Southwest Patriots on the road by a 66-52 margin. The Chargers have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Southwest's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Ashley, who went 5 for 9 en route to 17 points and three steals. Ashley has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Dupree, who posted 21 points and seven boards.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Southwest, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Academy for Classical Education at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central is facing Academy for Classical Education at the right time seeing as Academy for Classical Education is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Southwest, they will head out to square off against Bleckley County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.4 points per game this season.
