Softball Recap: North Duplin Takes a Loss

After soaring to 16 runs the game before, North Duplin was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell 5-2 to the Topsail Pirates. The contest marked the Rebels' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Lilly Fulghum spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, North Duplin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Higginbotham, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

North Duplin's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Topsail, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.

North Duplin has already played their next game, a 15-0 win against Hobbton on the 29th. As for Topsail, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-1 victory against Swansboro on the 24th.
