Baseball Recap: West Side Eagles vs. Concord Pirates

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but West Side had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Concord Pirates and snuck past 8-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as West Side also won the last time the pair played on April 9th.

Jacob Carlton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Carlton has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Carlton was also big at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs, a triple, and a double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grayson Inzer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Anthony Antonacci, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.

West Side pushed their record up to 21-2 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home. As for Concord, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1.
