Baseball Recap: Ashville Comes Up Short

Ashville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 14-5 to the Guntersville Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-5 two weeks ago.

Easton Layfield was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Ashville's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Guntersville, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.

Looking ahead, Ashville will welcome Hokes Bluff at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Guntersville, they are taking a road trip to take on Brewer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
