Soccer Game Preview: St. Patrick vs. Loyd Star

The St. Patrick Fighting Irish will face off against the Loyd Star Hornets on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Patrick is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand Southeast Lauderdale an 8-0 shutout. Michael Baty was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Loyd Star entered their tilt with Puckett on Saturday with 14 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 15. Everything went their way against Wolves as they made off with a 5-1 victory. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi soccer rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Wolves are ranked 155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Patrick is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those eight games. As for Loyd Star, their win bumped their record up to 17-1-2.
