Football Recap: Marist Comes Up Short on the Road Against Jefferson

Marist kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They received a blow as they fell 19-0 to the Jefferson Dragons. The War Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

A big part of Jefferson's win came down to the chemistry between Colton Grant and his top target Logan Edmunds. Grant rushed for 45 yards and one TD while Edmunds picked up 55 receiving yards and one touchdown. What's more, Grant racked up 122.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024.

Marist will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Woodward Academy at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Jefferson, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 10-3 victory against Jackson County on the 22nd.
