Football Recap: Padua Franciscan Takes a Loss

If Padua Franciscan was riding high fresh off their 47-13 takedown of Sandusky last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elyria Catholic Panthers on Friday. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Bruins couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Padua Franciscan still got an impressive performance from Chase Weizer, who rushed for 80 yards and one score on only nine carries. Weizer got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 60 yards. Jose Caban was in the mix too, providing Padua Franciscan with one touchdown.

Elyria Catholic found their leader in sophomore Jazear Terry, who rushed for 83 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also caught one score.

Padua Franciscan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Elyria Catholic, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-3.

Padua Franciscan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-0 loss against Big Walnut on the 26th. As for Elyria Catholic, they have also already played their next game, a 28-14 win against St. Vincent-St. Mary on the 26th.
