Softball Recap: Brownstown Central Finds Playoff Glory Versus Brown County

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Brownstown Central walked away with it. They came out on top against the Brown County Eagles by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Braves have won by exactly five runs.

Shyla Steele tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brailey Teipen was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinzee Dean, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Brownstown Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Brown County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.

Looking ahead, Brownstown Central will challenge South Ripley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Brown County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
