Football Recap: Brandon Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Oak Grove

Brandon faced Oak Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bulldogs took a 20-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Oak Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deavious Weary led the charge by picking up 106 receiving yards and two TDs. Those 106 receiving yards gave Weary a new career-high. Chavel Williams Jr. handled things on the ground, rushing for 85 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Brandon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Oak Grove, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
