Soccer Game Preview: Del Oro vs. Whitney

The Del Oro Golden Eagles will challenge the Whitney Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Oro's last four matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Del Oro is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They beat Vacaville by a goal, winning 5-4. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Golden Eagles considering their one-goal performance the game before.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Whitney ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand West a 1-0 shutout. Jax Magnuson had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Wildcats.

Whitney is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those nine matchups. Del Oro's victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

Del Oro came up short against Whitney when the teams last played back in January, falling 2-0. Can Del Oro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
