Softball Recap: Mountain View Victorious

Mountain View's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They skirted past the Anthony Wildcats 11-10. The win continues a trend for the Lobos in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Viviana Alvarez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Victoria Coates, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Anthony, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Mountain View will challenge Tornillo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anthony has already played their next contest (against Irvin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
