A Season-Best Performance from Teiyon Halbasch Leads Layton over Syracuse

Sadly, Teiyon Halbasch posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Layton over Syracuse on Thursday. Halbasch picked up 307 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 80 yards.

Layton is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5. They and Weber are set to duel on Wednesday.

Travis Hoopes's big game helped extend Farmington's winning streak to three on Thursday. Hoopes was dynamite, rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. He has become a key player for Farmington: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise.

Bode Sparrow's receiving tear continued on Thursday as he dropped his third-straight game with 101+ receiving yards dating back to last season. He picked up 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Davis's success: when he posts at least 100 receiving yards the team is 5-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Davis' loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3. Sparrow and Davis will venture away from home to square off against Syracuse at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
