Volleyball Preview: Malakoff Tigers vs. Quitman Bulldogs
The Malakoff Tigers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Quitman Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Saturday, Malakoff didn't have quite enough to beat Edgewood and fell 3-2.
Malakoff actually scored more points across those five sets (104-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 16-25, 15-11.
Despite the loss, Malakoff saw an underclassman step up: Annel Duran Garcia had nine digs and three aces. Duran Garcia is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in the last three games she's played.
Even though they lost, Malakoff was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in August of 2023.
Meanwhile, Quitman came into Friday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Winona 3-0 on Friday.
Malakoff has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season. As for Quitman, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-14.
