League recap: Cocalico tops Lampeter-Strasburg to extend winning streak

Lancaster-Lebanon 2 recap Oct. 23, 2012

Cocalico extended the longest winning streak in Lancaster-Lebanon 2 this week by beating Lampeter-Strasburg, 34-18. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Elizabethtown and Solanco played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Elizabethtown eventually emerging with a 3-0 victory. Kirby Breault ran for 16 yards and caught seven passes for 61 yards in the win.

Ryan Brooks and Anthony Brown gave Conestoga Valley a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Brooks threw for 101 yards and one touchdown, while Brown ran for 215 yards. Teammate Joel Lopez added to the ground attack by rushing for 51 yards.

Manheim Central's Colin Fry and Taylor Geib have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Fry has thrown for 1311 yards this season, while Geib, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 31 catches for 575 yards. Brown from the Buckskins leads the league in rushing with 1094 yards.

A big matchup in Lancaster-Lebanon 2 this week will be when Cocalico takes on the Bears. Dave Gingrich's team is in first place, while Elizabethtown is in fourth place.

Conestoga Valley led the league in scoring this week after putting up 64 points on Lebanon. Brown caught one passes for 25 yards in the win.
