Volleyball Preview: Layton Lancers vs. Farmington Phoenix
After seven games on the road, Layton is heading back home. After both having extra time off, they and the Farmington Phoenix will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Layton didn't have quite enough to beat Syracuse and fell 3-2. While the Lancers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Titans 25-19 in the first set.
Layton took Syracuse into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-19, 25-13, 21-25, 15-12.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Farmington sidestepped Weber for a 3-2 victory.
Farmington was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 13-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-13.
Kylee Day had a dynamite game for Farmington, getting 11 digs, four aces, and two kills. That's the most aces Day has posted in her last nine games. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Curtis, who had seven digs.
Layton has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-10 record this season. As for Farmington, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
