Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Hills Rattlers vs. High Tech SD Storm

The Canyon Hills Rattlers will challenge the High Tech SD Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Canyon Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They skirted past Kearny 3-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rattlers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Evan Zinn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Canyon Hills is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 5-13-2 otherwise.

At the plate, Dylan Barroga was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Canyon Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, High Tech SD narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Pacific Ridge 3-2.

High Tech SD saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mikey Ortiz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Adrian Acevedo, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

High Tech SD now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Canyon Hills, their win bumped their record up to 8-13-2.

Everything went Canyon Hills' way against High Tech SD in their previous meeting back in February of 2019, as Canyon Hills made off with an 18-0 victory. Will the Rattlers repeat their success, or do the Storm have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
